Some racers will go to extreme measures ( you know, something like promise a vote for Hilary Clinton) for a couple extras sled lengths in a 1/8 mile, so getting oil on clutch sheaves is to be avoided.

Now as your primary closes it pinches the inner part of the belt first then pushes it up the fixed sheave.
