WebMar 19, 2014 · The metal is supposed to be plated to be more corrosion resistant, the plastic is supposed to be more UV and temperature resistant, and some of them coat their circuit boards as well. The coated circuit boards is what gave me high-hopes they'd last a little better, but apparently not. Spend $75 to keep yourself safe. Always wear your gloves.
