WebAbstract. This term is used by Marx to characterize the perception of social relations under the sway of commodity exchange. It is under capitalism that fetishism of commodities assumes its most comprehensive form. In Capital, the notion is developed initially with reference to commodity exchange between atomistic self-employed producers. WebThe internet alone will not de-fetishise the commodity. But a consideration, and better still an applied project that examines how far the internet can assist in that goal seems a productive way to consider what would constitute such an act. So I hope this is at least an instructive failure.
